The 30th jubilee edition of the international book fair and literary festival 2025, taking place from 15–18 May at Výstaviště Holešovice, will feature more than 800 participants.
Visitors will have the opportunity to discover contemporary works from 38 countries and regions. ia will be represented, among others, by Ivana Gibová and Tomáš Forró, whose books have received strong reader and critical acclaim and have also been translated into Czech.
Book World Prague will host a total of 398 exhibitors, including the national booth of the Literary Centre (KB 304), which, in cooperation with other partners, is organizing three literary events.
The first is a discussion between Ivana Gibová, winner of the 2024 Anasoft Litera Award and the Tatra Bank Foundation Award in the literature category, and award-winning Czech author Bianca Bellová, taking place on Friday 16 May at 4PM in the Božena Němcová Hall. Ivana Gibová will present her book č첹© (Grandma) translated into Czech by Miroslav Zelinský and published by Protimluv. Bianca Bellová will introduce her book Neviditelný muž (Invisible Man, Host, 2024). In a conversation moderated by Monika Nagyová, visitors will hear two powerful stories of women candidly reflecting on their lives and coming of age.

On Saturday 17 May at 1PM, in the Josef Škvorecký Hall, a discussion will be held with prominent reporter Tomáš Forró about his nonfiction book Spev sirén (The Sirens’ Song) which deals with the military conflict in Ukraine. The book was translated into Czech by Ondřej Mrázek and published by Absynt. The event is supported by the Literary Centre, the Institute in Prague, Absynt Publishing, and literarnyklub.sk.
Also on Saturday 17 May at 3PM, at the Literary Centre booth (KB 304), there will be a talk with journalist and writer Igor Válek about his book Jaroslav Hašek a Slovensko alebo ako chutí ovca v žinčici (A-knihy, 2023). The discussion is entitled Wanderings of Jaroslav Hašek through Period ia. The book is a collage composed of Hašek's correspondence, excerpts from his prose about ia, and journalistic reports, which, through vivid language and deep contextual understanding, paint a compelling picture of the famous Czech author.
On 16 May at 6PM in the Bohemia Pavilion, the 2025 European Union Prize for Literature (EUPL) laureates will be announced at Book World Prague. Lukáš Cabala has been nominated for ia with his book Spomenieš si na Trenčín? (Will You Remember Trenčín?).
The motto of the 30th edition of the book fair reads: "30! The Energy of the Youth – The Wisdom of Books." The fair will host 70 international authors, including Nobel Prize winner Olga Tokarczuk, International Booker Prize winner Georgi Gospodinov from Bulgaria, Ukrainian writer Andrey Kurkov, Finnish author Pirkko Saisio, and American thriller writer Sam Holland.
This year’s guest of honour is Portugal, represented by eight prominent literary figures, including Lídia Jorge who masterfully reflects social changes, the ironic storyteller Rui Zink, the poet João Luís Barreto Guimarães, and Ana Madalena Matoso, a sought-after author of children's literature.
