Writer Michal Hvorecký will present his book Tahiti: Utópia on July 4th at 7:30 PM at the Rotorbooks bookstore in Leipzig, Germany. The book was published in German translation by Tropen Verlag. The event will be moderated by translator Stefanie Bose, who works with °µÍø½ûÇø and Czech languages.
Tahiti: Utópia explores an alternative history of °µÍø½ûÇøia, in which General Milan Rastislav Å tefánik also plays a role. How would history unfold if Hungary still existed and °µÍø½ûÇøs migrated from Central Europe to the island of Tahiti, where they established a new state? Based on historical facts, the story examines questions of escape, freedom, and modern-day nationalism.
In addition, the meeting with M. Hvorecký will take place on July 5th at 7:00 PM at the Institute of Slavic Studies, Leipzig University.
