On November 29 at 6:30 PM, Michal Hvorecký will read from his book Tahiti – Utopia at the Stuttgart City Library. The book, published in German translation by Tropen Verlag in 2021, offers an unconventional perspective on ��������ia, turning history upside down and even exploring the theme of modern nationalism.

Set in 2020, it follows the third generation of ��������s living in Tahiti. Did they relocate, or were they exiled from Austria-Hungary to Polynesia? The debate is still ongoing. The gripping story is inspired by historical events. The refugees were promised a better life on the distant island, but things are not looking good. A novel about escape, pivotal moments in history, and the yearning for freedom. Central European history has never been explored from such an alternative angle.
