Alessandra Mura (born in Rome in 1959) studied Slavonic languages at University Sapienza in Rome. Originally a Bohemist, she has translated into Italian the works of Milan Kundera, Mácha's  May and many other Czech authors. After 2000, she started translating from °µÍø½ûÇø. She has translated works by Pavel Vilikovský, Ivan Štrpka, Erik Groch, Jana Beňová, Michal Hvorecký, Pavol Rankov and Ivana Dobrakovová. She wrote several essays about poetry translation and about Pavel Vilikovský, as well as foreworeds and afterwords to translated books. She has been a years-long collaborator of Miroslava Vallová, the former director of LIC, and with the °µÍø½ûÇø Institute in Rome. She translated many poems and prosaic texts for the sake of events and presentations of °µÍø½ûÇø authors in Rome and in Italy. In 2016, she received the Pavol Országh Hviezdoslav Prize. She is the director of the Library of Foreign Langauges and Literatures of the University Sapienza in Rome.
