The people we love are not perfect. We have conflicts with them, get angry at them, we refuse to fulfill their dreams. Yet, they are a part of us, and we are forever connected to them. This is what Nadja, the main character of the story, realizes when, just a few days after her father’s death, she has to deal with a strong recurrence of her mother’s long-term psychiatric condition. Hospitalization is looming, but Nadja's mother insists that she is fine. However, things must be set in motion, and Nadja tries to support her mother. The protagonist’s narration about serious decisions, doubts, guilt, and rare moments of closeness is woven with everything that adult children experience when their parents begin to leave them. The novella by Denisa Fulmeková carries a mark of authenticity, narrative skill, and opens the topic of the end of life with unusual honesty.
