Elena HIDVÉGHYOVÁ-YUNG was born on September 29, 1970, in Bratislava. She studied Chinese language translation and interpreting at the Faculty of Arts of Comenius University in Bratislava (1988–1994). After completing her studies, she worked at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Academy of Sciences (1994–1997). She focused on modern Chinese decadent literature in comparison with European decadence and its specific concept of the woman – the femme fatale. Since 1997, she has been working as a court translator and interpreter of the Chinese language, while also translating classical and modern Chinese literature. She spent several years in China for both study and personal reasons. She currently lives in Bratislava.
