Jana KarÅ¡aiová was born in Bratislava in 1978. She is a writer and actress living in Italy.ÌýShe started learning Italian on her own in 2002,Ìýbefore that she lived alternately in Prague, Rome and Verona, where she worked as an actress. After a long break, she returned to work in the theatre. She runsÌýtheatre workshops, and has also attended writing courses. Her debut, Velvet Divorce, was one of twelve books nominated for Italy's prestigious Strega literary prize in 2022. It was originally published by the Italian publisher Feltrinelli under the title Divorzio di velluto.
