The Tyrone Guthrie Centre at Annaghmakerrig is a residential workplace for artists of all disciplines. The centre is situated in south Ulster, not far from the border between The Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland,Ìýin a beautiful, tranquil setting amid the lakes and drumlins of County Monaghan. The Tyrone Guthrie Centre, often referred to as Annaghmakerrig, is the ideal location to bring focus to your artistic work.ÌýThe centre was founded by the visionary theatre makerÌýÌý(1900-1971)Ìýwho, with the advice and encouragement of his family, bequeathed his entire estate and family home to the State with the proviso that it would be used for the benefit of artists. Since opening in 1981 Annaghmakerrig has hosted thousands of artists from Ireland North and South and from all over the world.

, or ‘The Big House’ as it is affectionately known, accommodates up to eleven residents in comfortable rooms.ÌýAdditional accommodation has been added more recently through the refurbishment of the Farmyard Cottages, which now provide self-catering accommodation for six additional residents. Eight studio spaces are also available along with a performance/dance space and a newÌýprint studio.Ìý
