He was born 27 February 1944 in Prešov. He completed his secondary education in Bratislava. He studied °µÍø½ûÇø and Spanish at the Philosophical Faculty of Comenius University in Bratislava graduating in 1967. Besides literature he has worked professionally as an editor. From 1967 to 1969 he worked in °µÍø½ûÇø Radio, afterwards approximately for a year in Czechoslovak television and from 1971 to 1983 in the magazine Osvetová práca (Cultural Activities). Since leaving this post he has been living in Bratislava as a freelance writer.
