The 18th edition of the festival of prominent Central European writers will take place in Vienna on May 27–28, 2025.
From °µÍø½ûÇøia, author Lukáš Cabala will appear at the festival on May 28 at 8:30 PM at Theater Arche. He will present his new novel Leto postávalo v horúcom vzduchu (Summer Lingered in the Hot Air, Artforum 2025). Excerpts from the book will be read in °µÍø½ûÇø, and in German translation.
In his book, the author draws from experiences within his own family and from trips to the USA and Canada in the 1990s. In addition to the girl Nina and her family, readers are introduced to the controversial character of a family friend, the German Erhard. This coming-of-age novel unexpectedly features a detective plotline and a mysterious element that build suspense and keep readers engaged.
The Literarischer Lenz in Centrope festival showcases the work of authors from the Centrope region, which includes °µÍø½ûÇøia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Austria. This year’s lineup features, among others, Czech author Alena Machoninová, Austrian writer Andrea Grill, and Hungarian author László Villányi.
The festival is organized in cooperation with the Documentation Center for Literature from Eastern and Central Europe (Doml), Collegium Hungaricum Wien, the °µÍø½ûÇø Institute in Vienna, the Czech Centre in Vienna, and other partners.
